Weekly RunDown #162

“This [Triple Crown win] is a testimony to me that we truly are the
ones who define and set our own limits. Thankfully, we are capable of breaking those limits as well,”
Michael McKnight

Last week's quote from David Goggins had a picture of him from the 2019 Moab 240.  As mentioned, rightly, from a reader I needed a quote from the winner Michael McKnight but at the time I did not have one - but now I do.  Michael not only won Moab but won all three of the Triple Crown races by also winning the Bigfoot 200 & the Tahoe 200 as well.  Here is a good post on Michael

Here is my Training Overview for week #20 which is more of a recap and a look at the road ahead.  Also in case you missed it here is my R2R2R Report from our run at the Grand Canyon on Oct 16th

Advice from David and Megan Roche on injuries - I would say while I get injuries it does not have to be something to just say is inevitable.  Many of mine come from years of just running and riding too hard all the time - I am thankful I can still be active with how hard I used to train . and also pushing the boundaries of what I think I can do.  So good advice but even more advice is to look at your training and adjust to what you can do and be vigilant.  You may get injuries but it is not a required.  That said if you are one that pushes the boundaries injuries are often found there as part of the boundary pushing.

Not sure who uses the Maurten Gels, I carry them more as a safety net but only use every now and then, but this article says not much different from other gels.  Not a conclusive study but it relates to what has been my experience when I use them but I like the texture and flavor and how I can take them and do not need much water to get them down like some gels

Ryan Hall shares, via an Amby Burfoot article, on his wife Sara's success. Sara is running New York this week after running a PR in Berlin 5 weeks ago.
